Concept and inspiration

The Rico collection, introduced by Ferm Living, is based on a reinterpretation of classic design through soft lines and a welcoming silhouette. It has been imagined to create a feeling of absolute comfort, almost maternal, inviting relaxation. The name “Rico” evokes wealth (from the Latin ricus, meaning “rich”), not ostentatious, but in the sense of discreet luxury and tangible quality, both in materials and in the experience of use.

Ferm Living, founded in 2005 by Trine Andersen, sought with this series to fuse modernity and Nordic tradition, emphasizing organic forms that contrast with the geometric rigidity often associated with minimalist design. The result is a collection that feels both contemporary and timeless, designed for warm living spaces.

Design

    •    Curvilinear shapes : Rico pieces stand out for their flowing curves and generous volumes, with no visible legs. The upholstery extends all the way to the floor, reinforcing the idea of a soft, stable cocoon.

    •    Enveloping expression : Backrests and armrests, often merged into a single continuous line, surround the seat, offering a feeling of protection and comfort.

        ◦    Bouclé : Rich, warm textured fabric, woven with uneven fibers for a curly surface (often 80-90% recycled polyester or blends with wool, linen and cotton). Resistance: approx. 40,000-50,000 Martindale.

        ◦    Brushed : Smooth, soft-touch fabric, resistant and easy to care for (composed of linen, viscose, polyester and cotton, e.g. 34% linen, 27% viscose, 17% polyester, 12% cotton). Resistance: approx. 30,000 Martindale.

    •    Legs : Made of low-density polyethylene, invisible as they are integrated into the upholstery.
